Unique to Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, the Fenrir is the most advanced and capable of all aircraft in all the Ace Combat installments. According to the storyline of the game, the fighter was designed using data collected from the destruction of an enemy flying fortress. It would have been developed and first manufactured in the 2019 time frame. It allows its pilot unsurpassed battle awareness through its COFFIN cockpit system that directly links the pilots brain with the plane's interface. It is speculated that such an aircraft would be capable of Mach 4+ speeds and be able to fly higher than 50,000 feet. It achieves such incredible performance from its distinct 3 after-burning turbofan engines. It also has unmatched maneuverability while being able to remain stable at even low altitudes. The Fenrir's two main engines feature two-dimensional thrust vectoring while the smaller center engine provides stability. The Fenrir is exceptionally stealthy and also has digital optical stealth capabilities which makes the plane virtually invisible to the naked eye when the feature is being used. Fenrir has a large and diverse payload capacity. It has two extremely powerful and accurate Gatling cannons. It can carry conventional weapons like Aphid and AMRAAM missiles and AGM-84D Harpoon anti-ship missiles as well as possessing futuristic super-weapons like a shock-wave missile that can obliterate everything in front of the plane and a microwave weapon that ignites aircraft fuel tanks. The design and characteristics of the fighter seem to resemble the modern day SU-37 Terminator, but is a far more advanced derivative.
