It was widely believed at the time that close-in, rolling dogfights were a thing of the past and that all future engagements would be won with long range missiles. Many new planes, like the F-4 Phantom, were built with no guns. However, after the hard realization that air wars would more often than not deteriorate into a dogfight, guns were retrofitted. This episode chronicles gun fights between F-4s, A-1s, MiG 17s, and MiG 21s.
