H-8

There is practically no solid information or specifications on this speculative stealth bomber. The intrigue surrounding a next-generation Chinese bomber actually began in the 1970’s as China planned to phase out the obsolete H-6 bomber. The original prototype for a new bomber was simply an H-6 with newer Rolls-Royce engines. Later on, the developers re-engineered the wings of the bomber to make it faster and increase the range by being able to accommodate four engines. However, this design never materialized and the program was canceled without any records or photos of the project. The H-8 concept re-surfaced in 2007 when a Chinese media outlet reported that the Xian H-8 had had a successful test flight and carried new weapons that greatly increased the effectiveness of the aircraft. Speculations have surfaced that the bomber could have a range much greater than that of the B-2 and fly at supersonic speeds. But, that is all just speculation and the Chinese government does not seem to have any plans of unveiling the aircraft any time soon. Also, the only public portrayals of the bomber (including the ones here) are artists conception and not photographs, so no solid tangible evidence of the bomber exists.
